14ft Heybridge Skiff

 

Simulated Clinker rowing boat. Mould taken from a wooden boat. A very sea worthy boat used as tenders for a lot of the sailing smacks on the East Coast. 13ft 6" long 5ft 6" wide perfect boat for lazy days on the water. They are raced extensively on the Blackwater estuary. The competition is fierce but friendly. The boats are traditionally rigged as fixed seat for pair oared rowing with a drop in seat for sculling, many have a sculling notch in the stern for sculling with a single oar.

 

18ft Haningfield Skiff

 

Simulated Clinker rowing boat, Originally used for fly fishing. These boats are slightly narrower than the Heybridge skiff but much longer. Many of the rowing clubs on the East Coast have at least one of these boats, the rig varies from single scull to a triple. Haningfield skiffs regularly take part in the great river race, carrying a cox, a passenger and two crew.
